My first foray into the oil offerings from Caudalie left me quite surprised! Caudalie's Polyphenol C15 Overnight Detox Oil is very fluid, incredibly low viscosity. It smoothes across the face and sinks into the skin almost on contact, and provides a really nice instant glow that's not greasy the way some oils are - which some of you guys out there may prefer.

If you have oily skin, you will absolutely love this. It's incredibly balancing and, on my face, leaves an incredibly velvet feel on the skin that errs on the side of dry! This makes sense though, considering that this oil is incredibly rich in grape seed oil, which is naturally very harmonizing. I had to apply moisturizer over top, but some of you oily folks out there may not have to!

Description: This dry oil helps to renew and protect your overtired skin while you sleep. Skin is detoxified and the complexion is revitalized. A cocktail of 5 essential oils and 3 vegetal oils, this 100% plant-based formula promotes cellular renewal and toxin elimination. On waking, skin is replenished and renewed.

Dermatologist tested. Apply in the evening, either by itself or before your moisturizer. Warm 3 to 6 drops in the palm of your hand, then massage onto cleansed face and neck. Avoid the eye contour.

Personally, I'm not overly keen on the claims of "removing toxins" because the skin doesn't filter out toxins, the liver does. Sure, you can help to remove impurities like pollution and dirt from the skin, but not toxins. I'll let it slide though, because tons of other brands love to use the word "detox," but it's something that you as a consumer should know - the skin does not filter out toxins.

The scent of this oil is quite intense, herbal, almost medicinal. Bitter orange and sandalwood are what my nose detects the most. If you're sensitive to smells, I would take a whiff of this before buying it because it's quite potent.

With that said, I appreciate that the scent of this product is due to the essential oils and not synthetic fragrance.

Ingredients: (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride*, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil*, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil*, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Leaf/Twig Oil*, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil*, Santalum Album (Sandalwood) Oil*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Flower Oil*, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil*, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Linalool*, Geraniol*, Limonene*, Farnesol*. *Plant origin.)

Despite the fact that it's a dry oil, incredibly fragrant, and makes "detox" claims, I absolutely adore this oil. It helps to improve the look of clarity on my skin when I wake up the next morning, and the essential oils in the formula may have a purifying ability! Even though I do feel it is better for an oily skin, I still reach for this when I need to do a bit of recon on my skin - and it's great for that.

Please note: If you are incredibly prone to breaking out, the high presence of Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (a coconut derived ester) may pose a risk of clogging. Try it out before you make the commitment to the full sized product, because you never know!

PS: The new version of this oil is exactly the same ;)
