Honey + Farmacy + Nourishing Mask. Could there be a better combination? (The answer is: not really!!) Farmacy is one of those brands that I have fallen fast and hard for. Every product I have used from them has been lovely. Every. Single. One. Honey Potion is no exception.
This is one of the most unique (and enjoyable) masks that I've used to date - and trust me when I say I've tried my share. Not only that, it's so much more than a skincare product - it's a platform on increasing awareness to a cause that is incredibly important to me: bee conservation. More on that in a minute.
First of all, the packaging deserves an award. Seriously, who can I talk to about that? It's eclectic, practical (the included metal spatula is magnetized to the lid so you'll never lose it!), and still remains modern looking. AND it looks like one of the little wax cells of a honey comb! I'm dyyyyying at the cuteness.
Honey is one of the best things you can put on your skin - period. It possesses antibacterial, humectant, enzymatic, antioxidant, healing, anti-inflammatory, and strengthening properties. It will benefit the skin regardless of skin type, age, gender, or any other outlying factor you can think of! Honey Potion is suitable for all skin types. This is quite rare for a mask, because some of them may be too drying for certain skin types, while others are too rich and occlusive for others.
Ingredients: Glycerin, Diglycerin, Polyglyceryl-10 Stearate, Honey Extract, Propolis Extract, Royal Jelly Extract, Panthenol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hippophae Rhamnoides Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Allantoin, Phenoxyethanol, Echinacea Purpurea Root Extract, Honey, Water, Flavor, Vanillyl Butyl Ether.
This is a soft and jelly-balm mask that transforms into a plush lightweight cream as you smooth it onto the skin. It's loaded with royal jelly, amino acids, Echinacea GreenEnvy honey, and glycerin. Oh and PS: it warms up when you massage it in. Could you imagine how amazing that would be on a cold winter's morning?
The mask feels quite smooth when you scoop it out. Not sticky or overly rich, but you can definitely tell it's going to leave your skin feeling really soft and nourished afterwards. I scooped out a quarter-sized dollop, smoothed it into the skin, and got warm fuzzies as I watched it turn into a creamy plush paste.
During the masking experience, I definitely felt some activity on my skin. I noticed a slight enzymatic tingle around my nose. When I removed the mask, my skin was literally singing with joy. Seriously, it was so soft. It gave the kind of glow that makes you want to keep looking in the mirror, moving your head left and right, over and over. Don't even play, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. We're all guilty of it ;) My skin was left so hydrated and nourished, that I was tempted to throw on their Sleep Tight night balm and go straight to bed. Obviously my obsession with layering skincare put a damper on that, but you could do the balm and it would be more than enough to continue nourishing your skin while you slept. This is a treatment mask as much as it's a hydrating and healing mask!
The scent is the closest thing I've ever smelled to real honey in a skincare product - it has the same earthy, waxy, bitter, sweet, and enzymatic scent that raw honey has. Unrefined, but captivating. This makes you realize that they really did put a ton of honey in this mask - it's not just for show. In fact, the honey in this mask is Echinacea Greenenvy Honey. Farmacy uses their patented Echinacea GreenEnvy in every product, and Honey Potion utilizes the honey from the bees that pollinate the GreenEnvy flowers. Talk about a double-whammy!
First cleanse and tone the skin then use the spatula to scoop the mask and spread a thick layer gently across the face from forehead to chin (avoiding direct contact with eye and lip areas). Massage for 1-2 minutes while it warms and transforms into a white cream. Leave on for 10-15 minutes then rinse off. Follow with your favorite Farmacy day or night treatment.
If I have any complaints, it's that Farmacy did not list the mask instructions on the actual jar. I'm a packaging hoarder, so the box made its way to my bookshelf because it's so cute. However, I know that most people do not save product boxes. If you throw out the box, you lose the directions. This mask has very specific usage instructions, so the fact that they aren't listed on the jar is highly impractical. Sure you can go to Farmacy's website or Sephora for directions, but when I'm in the bathroom with the door locked, candles lit, ready for a nice relaxing spa ritual, I'm not too keen on running over to my laptop just to see how to use a product correctly. However, once you use the mask for the first time, I'm sure you can get the hang of it.
As you know, the bees are very important to me. In fact, I have a honey bee tattoo. Bees are essential to the survival of the human race because they pollinate 35% of what we eat. No bees = no food. Their population is declining due to lack of disease, parasites, pesticides, and weather. Honey Potion gives back. Here's a bit more information on just how it does so:
BEE #HONEYSAVIOR Our bee populations are declining. We need them to pollinate the food we eat. And we need your help. It’s important to keep these vital winged pollinators healthy and buzzing, and here’s how easy that is to do.
Support your beekeepers by buying local honey. It means they can keep more beehives in your area. After all, honey is a phenomenal source of antioxidants and energy – tastes good too!
Plant nectar flowers such as Echinacea, Sunflowers, Asters, Black Eyed Susans, Hyacinths and Lilac to feed the bees and keep them buzzing. We donate $1 for every bottle of Honey Potion sold to City Growers. This nonprofit engages city kids in active learning about where food comes from — including the importance of bees, pollination and the production of honey. The thing I love the most about this mask is that it exceeded my expectations. Sometimes, products have all the right assets, but don't know how to put them together. This has multiple elements of honey, a fairly reasonable price point, an ethical backbone, the cutest packaging of my life, great ingredients, and a delicious smell - and it actually makes a big difference on the skin. It really truly did give my skin a plush softness, increased my hydration. If you have a face, I'd recommend this mask.
Thank you to Farmacy for sending this to me and allowing me to be a part of spreading bee-saving awareness!!!
