GLOSSIER MILKY JELLY CLEANSER

She's plush. Some products work extremely well for very specific circumstances. In my experience, Glossier Milky Jelly happens to be pure perfection as a morning-time cleanser. Don't get me wrong, it's not that it's bad as a second cleanse in the evening or even as the sole cleanser for days when you're just hanging out at home. But for a morning-time cleanse, it's almost unbeatable.

As a result, I keep it in my bathroom cabinet. It's one of the only skincare products that I keep in my bathroom, in fact. I just like knowing that if I don't feel like making a decision on what to wash my face with in the morning that Milky Jelly is there and I'm guaranteed to enjoy using it.

This article tells the story of Milky Jelly's inception, which was done in such a novel and inclusive way. Asking your readers what they would like to see in a cleanser? Genius. I'm most drawn to this quote by Emily Weiss, Founder and CEO of Glossier:

“I hope it’s the cleanser of all cleansers. Like, who wants to worry about cleanser? Don’t you just want to have it there and know that it does its job and move on to the rest of your skincare? It’s going to make you clean, but not squeaky.”

I appreciate that Glossier recognizes the importance of maintaining the skin's protective barrier and not making the surface so alkaline that it squeaks with dryness. I have never found this cleanser to leave my skin feeling tight or dry, regardless of how much I work to emulsify it. It's also worth mentioning that this cleanser doesn't leave my skin feeling dehydrated either.

The rose scent of this cleanser is fantastic. It's not as sharp or powdery as other rose scents that I've experienced in skincare. It's a refreshing rose that really elevates the experience. It makes you feel refreshed, which really lends itself to an energizing morning ritual. The texture alone could account for an entire blog post. Milky Jelly is quite literally the most perfect description of what this cleanser feels like. It's squishy. It has enough slip so that you can give your skin a little massage if you'd like, but it removes easily. I find it emulsifies and rinses off with ease. I've tried it with a washcloth but I honestly find just using water is more than enough. Your skin is left soft, but not filmy at all. It feels clean.

The packaging is streamlined, chic, and practical. The pump features a locking mechanism and the bottle is made from a semi-pliable plastic. You can travel with it without worrying that it will shatter into a million pieces or explode in your bag.

Claims:

This is the ultimate daily face wash: use on dry skin to dissolve away makeup and grime, or on wet skin as you start your day. The pH-balanced, creamy gel formula is made with a blend of five skin conditioners so your face is left feeling healthy and soft, never tight. Its cleansing power comes from the same gentle cleaning agents found in contact lens solution, so it’s tough on impurities and still safe to use on your eyes. You’ll see.

Personally, I still believe in double cleansing in the evening. Most of us wear some form of makeup that really does benefit from the extreme slip that an oil or balm provides. In my experience, Milky Jelly was great at removing a layer of sheer foundation and tinted brow gel, but I found it took a bit more time and effort to remove anything more than that. To me, that effort wasn't worth it - especially considering that I know just how quickly a balm can obliterate stubborn long-wear concealer.

However, as I mentioned earlier, I use this almost exclusively as a morning-time cleanser so Milky Jelly's makeup removal abilities are almost moot - to me.

Ingredients:

Water/Aqua/Eau, Rosa Damascena Flower Water, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Propanediol, Isohexadecane, Poloxamer 184, Acrylamide/Sodium Acryloyldimethyltaurate Copolymer, Xylitylglucoside, Betaine, Allantoin, Glycerin, Panthenol, Symphytum Officinale Root Extract, Sodium Hyaluronate, Anhydroxylitol, Polysorbate 80, Xylitol, Ammonium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Isopropyl Myristate, Benzoic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Hydroxide

All in all, I really love Milky Jelly. Admittedly, I feel like I almost take advantage of how much I like it because I use it so often. It's become a staple and I'm sure that I'll be repurchasing it for the foreseeable future.

I recently became a Glossier rep and included Milky Jelly as one of my top four products. I mentioned that it's great for all skin types, and it truly is. I think that almost everyone out there can use Milky Jelly. Speaking of, if you decide that you'd like to shop with me, you can do so here.
