It takes a lot for me to be impressed by a moisturizer, that's for sure. With that said, I get along brilliantly with most of Kate Somerville's moisturizers, and Nourish just so happens to be my favorite in her collection. Nourish is one of the most perfect moisturizers for application over an oil. It melts into the slickness of the oil and leaves behind a refreshing softness. Because Nourish on its own is quite melty - it turns from a lightweight cream to a semi-viscous fluid quite easily - it pairs beautifully with something that's slightly thicker underneath. I've never to find an oil that this doesn't sit beautifully on top of. The scent is exactly as Kate says it is - orangey lavender. I find it to be incredibly enlivening and not at all like you'd want to instantly fall asleep. I appreciate that the scent doesn't linger either. It makes application refreshing and aromatic, but once you're done, you're done. The formula contains a fair amount of Matrixyl 3000, which is the trademark name for Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7. This peptide acts as a sort of cellular messenger which stimulates the collagen fibers and should, in theory, reduce the appearance of signs of aging. It also is believed to increase the natural hyaluronic acid content in the skin, which will also provide a plumping effect. It's hard to know the percentage for certain, but based on the formula it appears to be in a fairly significant amount. You're also getting Vitamins A, C, and E, which work wonderfully together to strengthen and protect the skin. The second ingredient in the INCI list is Ethylhexyl Palmitate, an emollient derived from palm oil. If you are highly prone to congestion, I would be cautious about using this formula on a frequent basis. I haven't known anyone to have any extreme adverse effects from using Nourish, but everyone is different! Keep in mind that using a good cleanser, BHA exfoliant, and other pore-refining products should keep any potential clogs at bay. Most skin types will likely get along with Nourish, save for those that are extremely dry or extremely oily. I keep trying to point out different elements of the product that I'm impressed with, but the truth is that Nourish as a whole is what makes it so good. It's not the individual elements that make it so special, it's how they work together. The airtight packaging ensures stability of the ingredients, the bright blue-green container sits beautifully on a vanity or desk , and the cushiony fluid texture is absolutely amazing to massage into the skin in the morning. Personally, I really only use this during the daytime. I just find that it's far too perfect for morning time application to really have any desire to use it at any other time. I love Nourish so much. It's absolutely one of my favorite moisturizers of all time, and I fully plan on repurchasing through the foreseeable future. Ingredients:
