When I asked which cleanser you guys would like to be reviewed next, this was by far the winner! To be honest, I'm quite surprised I hadn't already reviewed this! This really is such a gorgeous cleansing balm. I find that those who love this, absolutely love it. It's halfway between a solid balm and an oily balm. I use a small scoop to pick up a nickel-sized dollop, and that's more than enough to melt away makeup and grime for my face and neck.
You'll notice that this starts out with a slightly granular texture when you apply it to the skin. This isn't a scrub per-se, but the formula uses sugar (sucrose laurate) as a cleansing agent. I feel like the sugar helps to superficially loosen all of the layers of product on the surface of my skin. It kind of helps to break up the foundation or sunscreen, rather than exfoliate the skin.
This is one of the few balms I've ever used that I don't feel necessarily needs a cloth to be completely removed. It milks up really well, and rinses away pretty thoroughly. This is quite rare for a balm, but it's also what makes Blue Moon so special. I would never suggest to wash your face with any type of product without a cloth, but you technically wouldn't have to with this. As an example, if you're using this as a morning cleanse on a clean face, you may very well just rinse your face with water from the faucet / shower and splash a few times - and not feel like you have a film on your skin.
The hardest part about this cleanser is deciding whether you want it to remove makeup, or to cleanse the skin. It does both beautifully. It's luxurious for a makeup remover, but it also doubles as a skin cleanser should you decide to use it that way.
Blue Moon Tranquility Cleansing Balm is a luxurious balm-to-milk, soft blue cleansing balm that effortlessly removes makeup and impurities. Using gentle, clean-rinsing, sugar-based cleansers, it moisturizes with cocoa butter and mimosa flower wax while soothing with deep-blue, azulene-rich, essential oils of blue tansy and German chamomile. Vanilla and sweet orange essential oils help to relax the mind for a tranquil, spa-like experience. It rinses clean effortlessly while thoroughly removing makeup and gently purifying the skin. The essential oils in Blue Moon help to soothe, calm, and soften the skin. My skin is always left looking and feeling calm after I use this. The scent of Blue Moon is quite understated, but ever-so calming and relaxing.
It's worth noting that this formula is rich in cocoa butter and coconut alkalines. If you know your skin has a tendency to get congested, I would give this a try before investing. Some people get along beautifully with it, some don't. It has never clogged my skin, so I'm one of the lucky ones!

I really do love this cleansing balm. It's thorough, effective, softening, nourishing, and really unique in texture and experience. I think Sunday did a really nice job on the formula. She created a cleansing balm that was not only elegant to use, but equally as effective. My only critique would have been to include a scoop or cloth, which would have further elevated the luxury experience of using this. If you're purchasing this at Sephora, do NOT hesitate to ask for a spatula to keep inside your jar. Save the little white protective lid, because a tiny flat spatula fits perfectly on top, so you'll never lose it!
