FARMACY SKIN DEW

Alright, so it has been established that I'm a fan of the Farmacy Beauty brand. Every single product I've tried from them (nearly everything) has been absolutely wonderful - good ingredients, fragrance-free, non-irritating, reasonably priced, and effective. The newest launch - Skin Dew - is no exception! I've been playing with it for a couple of weeks, and I have some thoughts for you ('cause who would I be without an opinion?!) They're treating this as more than just a hydrating facial spritz. In fact, here's what they're saying:

REAP THE BENEFITS This dual-action invigorating essence helps replenish radiance and moisture, while also setting makeup. It protects and soothes the skin, provides an overall sense of wellbeing and freshens makeup on contact. Renew daylong as desired with this vitalizing and energizing mist. SOW THE SEED Brighten up your morning by applying either before or after moisturizing and to set makeup. Retain that refreshing feeling by reapplying throughout the day to rejuvenate your makeup and seal in freshness. To harvest its many benefits, hold the nozzle about eight inches from the skin and gently spray across the face. Start at the forehead and work down to the chin. NATURAL POLYMER A natural polymer forms an airy veil over the skin that sets and refreshes makeup by stopping oil migration, resulting in a more radiant appearance throughout the day. Horsetail Juice, a natural extract of the perennial Horsetail herb that contains vitamin C, tannins and mineral salts, helps freshen and tone the skin while providing both antioxidant and skin soothing benefits.

It smells like a basil and peppermint concoction - instantly refreshing and uplifting. I prefer it as a hydrating spritz than a makeup setting spray - I don't necessarily feel that it prolongs the wear of my makeup. It does take away the look of dryness from either dry skin or powder, but all hydrating facial sprays will do that. As a makeup refresher, however, it's absolutely gorgeous. Misted throughout the day for a pick-me-up is what this excels in, plus the aromatherapy makes you feel a little bit better!

I've also used it as a true essence - sprayed into my palms and pressed into the skin. I think the texture is too thin for that, and it definitely works better when sprayed directly onto the skin. The formula is simply a blend of skin conditioners, plant extracts, plant oils, and humectants. This definitely has more plant oils than other setting sprays, but lacks any type of robust vitamins or peptides for it to be considered an anti-aging powerhouse - that's fine though, because Farmacy isn't suggesting this could replace your serum and moisturizer. I like that this is alcohol free, fragrance free, and synthetic dye free.

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Propanediol, Methoxycinnamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Patented Echinacea Purpurea ‘Greenenvytm’ Root Extract, Equisetum Arvense Juice, Phenoxyethanol, Oleth-20, Actinidia Chinensis (Kiwi) Fruit Extract, Melia Azadirachta Leaf Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Oil, Melia Azadirachta Flower Extract, Coccinia Indica Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Ocimum Basilicum (Basil) Flower/Leaf Extract, Cananga Odorata Flower Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Citrus Aurantifolia (Lime) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Solanum Melongena (Eggplant) Fruit Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract, Corallina Officinalis Extract, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Aloe Barbadensis Flower Extract, Ocimum Sanctum Leaf Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dehydroxanthan Gum, Sodium Phytate, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Amino Esters-1, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Caramel.

My only complaint is the placement of phenoxyethanol on the ingredient list. This suggests that any ingredient that follows it will be in concentrations of less than 5%. There's nothing wrong with having less than 5% of peppermint oil in a facial mist (cause otherwise, ouch), but it does mean that the immense benefits of kiwi, basil eggplant, and turmeric will be minimal at best. That's if I'm being picky. However, this is a nice hydrating mist that can be used post-acid, between serum and moisturizer, or as a makeup fixer / refresher. I'm a fan!

PS: If you like Caudalie Beauty Elixir, I think you'll love this.
